Ajinkya Rahane, the Kolkata Knight Riders captain, has chosen to bat first against Chennai Super Kings, in Eden Gardens’ last league game of IPL 2025. KKR are still in the playoffs race with three league games left, but likely need to win all three to stay in contention. CSK are already out of the race.
KKR come into this game having won their last two, back to back. They batted first in both those games, and this, Rahane said, was one of the reasons for his decision at the toss. The pitch at Eden Gardens wore a tacky look before the start of play, with a few loose plates on its top surface – spinners from both sides could come into play as the match goes on.
KKR were without Venkatesh Iyer, who picked up an injury while training on the eve of the match, and has stitches in his hand. Manish Pandey came in for him. KKR named a starting XI that bats deep, with Moeen Ali slotted at No. 9. Harshit Rana is their likely Impact Player, though Anukul Roy or Mayank Markande could also come in if the pitch proves particularly spin-friendly.
CSK made three changes, handing Urvil Patel – recently signed as a replacement for the injured Vansh Bedi – a debut and bringing back offspinner R Ashwin and the New Zealand top-order batter Devon Conway. They replaced Shaik Rasheed, Deepak Hooda and Sam Curran. Shivam Dube, who starts on the bench, is expected to come in during their chase as their Impact Player.

India’s Operation Sindoor has reportedly killed 10 members of terrorist Maulana Masood Azhar’s family in Pakistan. The Indian armed forces launched overnight strikes on nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on early Wednesday (May 7).
One of the sites struck by India was a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror camp in Bahawalpur, a city in Pakistan’s Punjab. JeM, a terror organisation led by Masood Azhar, has carried out many attacks in India. India’s missile strikes come two weeks after 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

A l’issue d’un match haletant, au summum du suspens, dans le stade bouillant du San Siro, l’Inter Milan a validé son ticket pour la finale de la Ligue des Champions, en s’imposant face au FC Barcelone 4 buts à 3 (7 à 6 en cumulé) lors des prolongations.

L’Inter Milan a ouvert le score à la 21e minute, grâce à Lautaro Martinez, avant de doubler la mise à la 45e minute sur penalty transformé par Hakan Calhanoglu.
LE FC Barcelone n’a pas tardé à se remettre dans la course lors de la deuxième mi-temps suite à une volée plat du pied d’Eric Garcia (54’). Dani Olmo double la mise et remet les compteurs à zéro (60’), en propulsant de la tête le ballon dans les filets.
À la 68e minute, une faute sur Lamine Yamal a initialement conduit à l’attribution d’un penalty pour Barcelone. Cependant, après vérification du VAR, la décision a été annulée, la faute ayant eu lieu en dehors de la surface.
Le FC Barcelone a réussi à inverser la tendance en ajoutant un troisième but à la 88e minute, signé Raphinha qui parvient à tromper Sommer.
Ce match, plein de rebondissements, a réservé bien des surprises puisque les Italiens sont revenus au score lors du temps additionnel après un but d’Acerbi qui crucifie les Catalans.
La seconde période a été marquée par une domination barcelonaise, avec notamment des performances remarquées de Lamine Yamal sur le flanc droit.
Lors des prolongations, le Barça pressant, s’est installé dans le camp italien alors que les Interistes ont tenté d’enchaîner quelques passes, frustré par une forte présence des hommes de Hansi Flick.
Loin d’êtres abattus, les Interistes reprennent l’avantage et plantent un 4e but à la 99e minute, grâce à un travail de Marcus Thuram qui trouve Taremi. Frattesi est servi et ajuste parfaitement Szczęsny.
Jusqu’au bout, le Barça n’a pas lâché, notamment avec Yamal était dans une position magnifique pour ouvrir son pied. Cependant, Sommer, auteur de belles parades lors de cette rencontre, se détend et sauve son équipe.
Cette rencontre, électrique à la hauteur des attente a été marquée par de nombreux rebondissements et une symphonie de buts. À San Siro, le football a offert un chef-d’œuvre signé Inter et Barça.
L’Inter Milan retrouvera en finale le gagnant entre le PSG et Arsenal, dont la confrontation aura lieu mercredi 07 mai.

The scorecards showed Haney won the 12-round welterweight bout against Ramirez decisively. But the fight lacked sizzle.
The boxers landed a combined 110 punches, according to DAZN’s broadcast.
Haney flinched repeatedly when Ramirez got in close, but his opponent failed to land many punches. In the end, Haney’s quickness and hand speed served him well.
The judges scored it 119-109, 119-109, 118-110 for Haney, who improved to 32-0. The victory helped secure a likely rematch with Ryan Garcia.

Capitalizing on his hand speed and quickness, Lopez outclassed the previously undefeated Barboza and won the WBO super lightweight title. Lopez celebrated his victory with a backflip in the ring.
Lopez took a hard right early that left blood flowing from under his left eye, but he maintained control in the 12-round fight.
The judges scored it 116-112, 116-112, 118-110 for Lopez, who improved to 22-1.
Barboza suffered his first loss and fell to 32-1.
